Now that it's cold and flu season maximizing your immune system is a key factor in staying healthy. Your immune system does the job of defending you against disease-causing microorganisms. Although, sometimes a pathogen can make it's way in and make you sick. There are ways to to help strengthen your immune systems so it's interconnected parts can function properly to fight off germs.
The biggest thing you can do it choose a healthy life style. Don't smoke, eat a diet that consists of plenty of fruits and vegetables, exercise regularly, get adequate amounts of sleep, minimize stress, and be sure to wash your hands before cooking and after using the restroom. Also, don't give in to products that claim to "boost your immune system" in all actuality that claim doesn't stand true. You CAN create an environment where your immune system can thrive and work best in the body, but creating more immunity isn't something that can be done.
The best way to protect yourself against illness during the cold and flu season is to lead the healthiest life style and to take in as much fresh air as you can. The cold isn't directly linked to making people sick during this time of year; it's the habit of staying indoors with recycled air, and germs!
