Week 2: Fuel for Fall
As the weather gets cooler, many of us begin craving warm, comforting meals. Healthy eating does not mean giving up those foods. It means building meals that are satisfying, nourishing, and practical for your life.
Build Meals Around Protein
Protein helps support muscle repair and can make meals more satisfying. Try including a dependable protein source at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- Turkey or chicken chili
- Egg and vegetable breakfast bowls
- Greek yogurt with apples and cinnamon
- Slow-cooker chicken
- Lentil or bean soup
- Roasted salmon with seasonal vegetables
Upgrade Your Comfort Foods
Instead of removing your favorite meals, look for simple additions. Add ground turkey or beans to chili. Mix vegetables into pasta sauce. Serve fruit with breakfast. Pair a sandwich with soup or a salad. Add protein to oatmeal or a smoothie.
Ask: What could I add to make this meal more nourishing?
Keep Drinking Water
It can be easier to remember hydration during hot weather, but your body still needs fluids during fall. Carry a water bottle and drink regularly throughout the day, especially before and after exercise.
Prepare for Busy Evenings
Keep ingredients available for two or three fast meals. Eggs and toast, rotisserie chicken with frozen vegetables, or a simple taco bowl can prevent a busy night from becoming stressful. Convenient food can still support your goals.
This Week's Challenge
Include a source of protein in three meals each day and keep a water bottle nearby.
